Day 4 Called ON at EDP Ericeira Pro Presented by Estrella Galicia

Men's Round of 64 To Start At 9:05 a.m. GMT+1; Men's Round of 32, Women's Round of 16 Heats 1 & 2 To Follow

RIBEIRA D’ILHAS, Ericeira, Portugal (Wednesday, October 2, 2024) - The World Surf League (WSL) EDP Ericeira Pro Presented by Estrella Galicia, Stop No. 5 on the 2024 Challenger Series has been called ON. The remaining men’s Round of 64 heats will start competition at 9:05 a.m. GMT+1, followed by the men’s Round of 32 and the first two heats of the women’s Round of 16.

Eight heats remain in the men’s Round of 64, and five of the top ten men are yet to surf their first heat in Ericeira. When competition resumes, former Championship Tour (CT) surfer Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA) will come up against Riaru Ito (JPN), Kade Matson (USA) and Ryan Huckabee (USA).

Alan Cleland Jr. (MEX), the winner of the last Challenger Series stop, the Lexus US Open of Surfing, is in a big matchup against Portugal’s former CTer Frederico Morais (POR), Morgan Cibilic (AUS) and Lucca Mesinas (PER) in Heat 12.

There are no easy heats going into the women’s Round of 16. Rankings leader Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) will face Bronte Macaulay (AUS) in the first heat. Defending event winner Alyssa Spencer (USA) will come up against Laura Raupp (BRA) in Heat 2.
