No Competition Today at Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro Presented by GWM

Continued Small Surf Forces Second Day Off on the Gold Coast with Promise of Good Surf for Next Two Days of Event Window; Next Call: Friday, May 3, at 7:15 AM AEST for Possible 7:35 AM Start

SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland, Australia (Thursday, May 2, 2024) - The Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro presented by GWM, Stop No. 1 of the 2024 World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series (CS), has been called OFF for the second-consecutive day due to small surf at Snapper Rocks. The new swell that was expected to fill in today arrived, but the southerly angle left little opportunity for competitors. The swell is expected to swing around in a more easterly direction, which should see the long walls of Snapper Rocks come to life by tomorrow morning. The next call will be made tomorrow, Friday, May 3, at 7:15 a.m. AEST for a possible 7:35 a.m. start.

When competition resumes, two of the event standouts, Erin Brooks (CAN) and Yolanda Hopkins (POR), will take their contrasting styles to the Snapper lineup to try and book a spot in the Quarterfinals and get their season off to the best possible start.

Challenger Series fresh faces Charly Quivront (FRA) and Dakoda Walters (AUS) will do battle in Heat 3 of the men's Round of 16 when the competition kicks back off at Snapper Rocks.

Heat 2 of the women's Round of 16 will witness two Aussie former CT competitors, Isabella Nichols (AUS) and Nikki Van Dijk (AUS), go head-to-head for a spot in the Quarterfinals on the Gold Coast.
