Day 5 Called ON at EDP Ericeira Pro Presented by Estrella Galicia

RIBEIRA D’ILHAS, Ericeira, Portugal (Thursday, October 3, 2024) - Day 5 at the World Surf League (WSL) EDP Ericeira Pro Presented by Estrella Galicia, Stop No. 5 on the 2024 Challenger Series has been called ON. The remaining men’s Round of 32 heats will start competition at 10:35 a.m. GMT+1, followed by the women's Round of 16. The men's Round of 16 is on standby.

Samuel Pupo (BRA) has the opportunity to clinch his spot on the Championship Tour (CT) today, if he advances to the Round of 16. Pupo will be the first heat in the water against Rafael Teixeira (BRA), Taro Watanabe (USA) and Gatien Delahaye (FRA).

After an electric performance yesterday, Mateus Herdy (BRA) could play spoiler for former CTers Michael Rodrigues (BRA), Maxime Huscenot (FRA) and Joan Duru (FRA) in Heat 8 of the Round of 32. 

When the women’s competition resumes, Bella Kenworthy (USA) could potentially qualify for the CT, but she’ll first have to overcome Vahine Fierro (FRA) in Heat 6 of the Round of 16. In an all-Australian matchup, Sally Fitzgibbons will face Bronte Macaulay in Heat 1, and defending event winner Alyssa Spencer (USA) will come up against Laura Raupp (BRA) in Heat 2.
