Day 2 Called ON at Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro Presented by GWM

SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland, Australia (Sunday, April 28, 2024) - Competition will continue today at Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro presented by GWM, Stop No. 1 of the 2024 World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series (CS), with men's Round of 64 being called ON at Snapper Rocks. All 16 heats of the Round of 64 are on. No men's or women's Round of 32 will run today. Snapper Rocks is continuing to deliver with more super clean conditions and two-to-three-foot suf reeling down the bank. 

Joao Chianca (BRA) will return to competition in Heat 2 of the Round of 64 after recovering from injuries sustained in Hawaii earlier this year. The former WSL Final 5 surfer will take on youngsters Nolan Rapoza (USA), Luke Slijpen (RSA), and Levi Slawson (USA). 

Heat 9 will be one to watch, with former Gold Coast Pro event winner Samuel Pupo (BRA) doing battle with former CT surfer Alejo Muniz (BRA), former Gold Coast event runner-up Sheldon Simkus (AUS) and WSL Australia regional QS Champion Joel Vaughan (AUS).

Fresh from missing the Mid-season Cut in Margaret River, Kade Matson (USA) will look to get his re-qualification campaign off to the perfect start today at Snapper Rocks. First, he will have to overcome the Day 1 standout performer Kyuss King (AUS) as well as former CT competitor Lucca Mesinas (PER) and Dimitri Poulos (USA).
