Competition Called ON at Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro Presented by GWM

Women's Round of 16 Starts at 7:35 a.m. AEST; Men's Round of 16 to Follow; Fisher and Friends Freesurf to Take Over Snapper Rocks This Afternoon

SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland, Australia (Friday, May 3, 2024) - Competition is back ON at the Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro presented by GWM, Stop No. 1 of the 2024 World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series (CS). It's set to be an amazing day of surfing with Snapper Rocks turning on pumping surf in the three-to-five foot range. Competition will commence at 7:35 a.m. AEST with the women's Round of 16. The men's Round of 16 will follow. The day will be capped off with another special heat, the Fisher and Friends Freesurf at Snapper Rocks.

Surfing legend Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) will have her chance to get her requalification campaign off to the perfect start with a spot in Finals Day, but she will first have to get past Tessa Thyssen (FRA) in the final heat of the women's Round of 16.

Tiago Carrique (FRA) has been on fire all event and will hope to keep his run going, but he will first have to get past Joao Chianca (BRA), who is on his return to competition this week at Snapper Rocks.

Fisher and Friends Freesurf to Take Over Snapper Rocks

The final heat of the day today will see world-famous DJ Fisher hit the lineup at Snapper Rocks with six WSL Legends, including 11x World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 8x World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 3x World Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) and World Champions Joel Parkinson (AUS), Mark Occhilupo (AUS) and Chelsea Hedges (AUS).

It will be an opportunity for former pro surfer Fisher to enjoy pumping Snapper Rocks with some of his friends ahead of his massive show tomorrow night on Coolangatta Beach as part of the 'Out To Lunch Festival'.
